Shoebill Health Care 5th Anniversary

Shoebill Health is about to celebrate its 5th anniversary, and we reflect on the challenges we've overcome and the achievements we've made over the years.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been particularly challenging for us. During this period, international travel almost came to a halt, significantly impacting our core services. However, thanks to the unwavering support of our customers and the trust of NGOs and government departments in our outreach vaccination and check-up services, we were able to sustain our services. At the same time, individual clients continued to rely on us for vaccinations, family doctor consultation, home visit and tele health services. Their trust allowed us to focus on serving the community during these challenging times.

Our team continually pursues further education to provide the up-to-date travel health and primary health care services. Our nurses have successfully passed the professional exams of travel health, becoming among the first nursing professionals in Hong Kong to obtain travel health certification. Additionally, in 2023, our team participated in a three-day exchange visit to the Well Travelled Clinic operated by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. This visit allowed us to observe the operation of travel health center in the UK and exchange experiences with local health care professionals, thereby strengthening our service foundation and enhancing service levels.

Another significant achievement was our first team trip to the Everest Base Camp, which is over 5300m above sea level. This 18-day journey involved trekking from Lukla, via the Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass, filled with laughter and tears. This rare opportunity not only allowed us to experience the local culture but also let us understand the physical and mental challenges of reaching high altitudes from a traveller's perspective, enriching our experience in providing travel health services.

As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we remain committed to offering innovative and personalized services to our clients. With the launch of our new travel health management center in Mong Kok - Shoebill Co-Traveller, which features a coffee corner offering high-quality coffee, local and international travellers can manage their travel health risks in a relaxed environment.
